Fresh Spearmint Lip Gloss Recipe

Makes 1/2 ounce

Spearmint makes this gloss feel refreshing and soothing on your lips. Also try using other mints, such as orange, pineapple, cinnamon or chocolate mint. If you don’t have fresh mint on hand, substitute dried mint until fresh leaves are available.

• 1 teaspoon fresh mint leaves OR ½ teaspoon dried leaves
• 2 teaspoons almond oil
• 1 teaspoon grated beeswax

Place mint in a container; gently bruise leaves to release essential oils. Pour oil over leaves and let sit for a few days. Strain oil, then add it to beeswax. On a stove or in a microwave, gently heat mixture until wax melts. Stir well and pour into a small, clean container.

Ooh this sounds good. We made some lip balm back in September and some of it worked well. This sounds lovely though.

Post adoption depression or teenagers? Or is it just me?

So I’ve been feeling more and more blah over the last few weeks. I should be feeling great, right? We are at home, sleeping in our own bed, spending time with ALL our children, enjoying our sunshine, hanging out with friends and family, playing with the dog. But instead I’m caught up in homework: ‘do you have homework?’ ‘no’ ‘so what’s this your teacher sent me?’ ‘oh, well, I’m not worried about that, it won’t take long,…’ ‘but it’s homework right?’ ‘well yes technically’ ‘ok then so what’s your plan to do it?’ ‘well I thought I’d do it after I’ve played my video game for a couple of hours’ ‘but what about doing your chores?’ ‘well I’ll do those at the same time’ ‘but what about the chore that needs to proceed getting dinner for everyone?’ ‘well I’ll do that in a bit’ ‘but how long will the homework take?’ ‘oh not long. It’s just 50 math problems/5000 words/a complete diorama of a pilgrim settlement’ Steam is now pouring out of my ears. And then there is the ‘how was your day?’ conversation with the 15 year old: ‘poopy’ ‘so why was that?’ ‘rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb’ ‘please explain some more’ ‘you are such a jerk’ And all this is interspersed with pick ups from school where the kid is not where you expect them to be so I end up driving around in a circle along the one way system, spending an hour doing what should take me 15 minutes; letters to birth parents that say we are not calling enough so this letter is to make up for it; at the dinner table where everything has to be counted out so very carefully or it’s just not fair; or you offer them food that you know they have eaten before and they look at you like you are trying to poison them; breakfast that has to be completely reengineered because birth father fed them a three course feast every morning apparently, and we dont do milk on our cereal but we still want the sugar covered kind; or the comment in front of the new friend (and her mother) that their house is so great because you just get to eat anything out of the fridge, like we put a lock on ours or something; or the new clothes that they absolutely had to have that you find in the back of their draw three weeks later with the tags still on; or the hours of reruns of what used to be your favorite TV show because you have to catch them up before you can continue to watch the new stuff; or the 6am starts in order to get everyone up for school and work, which wouldn’t be so bad if it were not combined with 11pm bedtimes, week in and week out; and the Christmas gift to birth father that is an $80 shirt that will cost another $40 to mail, the same birth father that kept us in the UK for 8 months because he didn’t like that first contact visit being supervised by us at the instruction of the SW. spend my days cleaning or malingering. And now I have a pre-teen and two teenagers who fight me every step of the way when it comes to getting homework and chores done. Is it me?
